Kitchencore XVIII: Ask To Re:wind (2019)

Kitchencore (a portmanteau of “kitchen” and “hardcore” techno) is a series of DJ house party events that several friends and I have hosted over the years. The latest one — the first in nearly four years — featured live VJing for the first time in the history of the event. In the spirit of festival EDM events and underground Japanese hardcore techno shows, I put together a “splash” for each of our twelve performers, seen above. In addition, I also made a number of supplemental graphics to post to social media, including a timetable that would announce and reveal performers every two weeks.

The event was held in memory of Michael “Rewind” Hey, the person who taught a number of us how to DJ. He passed away due to medical complications in 2018. May he rest in peace.
